Questions, problems or ideas about WordJar? We’re happy to help.
Where are my recordings stored?
WordJar has no account and no cloud of its own – your words and recordings live on your iPhone or iPad. The iOS app additionally copies each recording into your Photos library (see backups below); beyond that, recordings only leave your device when you share or export them yourself. Details are in our privacy policy.
How do I back up my recordings?
In the iOS app, every saved recording is also placed into the Photos album “WordJar” (you can turn this off in Settings). If you use iCloud Photos, your recordings are backed up automatically. You can also export all words and videos as a ZIP file at any time via Export.
The camera or microphone doesn’t work
WordJar needs permission to use the camera and microphone to record your videos. If you declined the permission dialog, you can re-enable it under Settings → Apps → WordJar (iOS) or in your browser’s site settings (web version).
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual recordings and words directly in the app. To remove everything inside WordJar, use Settings → Reset or simply delete the app. Note that copies outside the app are not removed automatically: recordings backed up to the “WordJar” album in Photos and any exported ZIP files stay until you delete them there.
